Karen Mark

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral services for Karen Cheryl Mark, 37, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, at Family Church Assembly of God, Fort Defiance. James Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in family plot, Crystal.

Mark died May 12, 2011, in Fort Defiance. She was born Nov. 4, 1973, in Fort Defiance, into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Anglo People Clan.

Mark received her bachelors in business administration from Dine College. She was employed with the Navajo Nation, Navajo housing authority. She enjoyed spending time with her children, granddaughter, family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Ryan Tso Jr., Brandon Tso, both of Fort Defiance; daughter, Kaniesha Tso of Fort Defiance; parents, Rose M. Dahozy and Edison D. Dahozy, both of Fort Defiance; brothers, Ronald Tsosie, Carl Tsosie, both of Fort Defiance; one grandchild.

Mark was preceded in death by Peter, Harry, Benny, David Mark, Michelle Wilson, Carlissa Tsosie, Nick and Ella Mark.

Pallbearers will be Justin Wilson Sr., Larry Wilson Jr., Darren Thomas, Darren Tsosie, Riley Wilson, Edison James.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Crystal Chapter House, following services.

Escolastico Romero

CUBERO — Funeral Mass for Escolastico “Lucky” Romero, 67, will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin Bryan will officiate. Visitation will be 6 p.m., today, May 17, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m., tonight, May 17, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Deacon Larry Chavez will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post #3221. Private disposition will be at a later date.

Romero died May 13, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born on June 5, 1943, in Cubero.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Romero; children, Peggy Romero of Grants, Cathy Romero of Grants, Escolastico “Lucky” Romero Jr. of Phoenix, Marcko Romero of Grants; brothers, Orlando Romero of Grants, Pete Romero of Elko, Nev.; sister, Priscilla Romero of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Romero was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Romero and Nilda Baca Romero; sister, Mary Barela.

Pallbearers will be Darin Brann, Gabriel Montoya, Kash Elkins, Alex Dominguez, Del Martinez, Dominic Sanchez, Marty Lujan, Josh Hood.
